SHADOW REICHENSTEIN "Werewolf Order " CD FiendForce Rds 2005 ******
N'ayons pas peur des mots, "Werewolf Order" de SHADOW REICHENSTEIN n'est rien de moins qu'une des plus grandes révélations Horror Punk de tous les temps !!! Leur premier album "It' s Monster Rock", sorti en 2001, était déjà une vraie pièce maîtresse dans ce registre. Mais cette fois, avec "Werewolf Order", nous voici face à un véritable chef-d' oeuvre. Non seulement la production en elle-même est excellente (merci FiendForce rds !), mais de plus, tous les éléments dont nous pouvions rêver sont là : un son puissant, ENORME, des riffs de guitare assassins, une énergie supersonique, des vocaux rageurs mais mélodiques, des atmospheres profondes et lugubres, des passages fantômatiques de synthé ici et là, des chansons très accrocheuses, et bien sûr une thématique "Horror" récurrente abordée par les textes. La chanson-titre elle-même, "Werewolf order", est un véritable hymne lycanthropique, illustré par des rythmes lourds et menaçant ainsi que par des explosions de guitare prédatrice qui déchirent le cerveau. "Dracula" est une nouvelle version apocalyptique de "Dracula built my hot rod", morceau qui était présent sur le premier album. "It's Halloween", avec ses sonorités Batcave/Death Rock portée par des vagues surnaturelles de clavier, ensorcelle littéralement l'auditeur. "Wakin' the Dead" est une décharge furieuse et dévastatrice d'énergie macabre. Et tout le reste est à l'avenant, chacun des morceaux constituant un hit en puissance. Ce disque est tellement bon qu'il serait vraiment trop dur de n'en sélectionner que quelques morceaux comme "échantillons" . Effectuer un tel choix parmi tant de joyaux sonores serait tout simplement une tâche impossible, en ce qui me concerne. Je n'arrête pas d'écouter et de réécouter sans cesse cet album, sans jamais m'en lasser. De surcroit, l'imagerie du groupe, associant des éléments Horror/Gothic/punks et des masques à gaz avec une symbolique germanique (Croix de fer à go go, casques allemands, etc), est absolument excellente !!! Que pourrait-on espérer de plus ? SHADOW REICHENSTEIN est carrément l'un des plus fabuleux groupes Horror Punk qui aient jamais existé, c'est très simple. Rejoignez dès à présent l' Ordre du Loup-Garou !!! Hanns Wehrwolf   ENGLISH VERSION : Let's not be frightened by words, "Werewolf Order" by SHADOW REICHENSTEIN is nothing less but one of the greatest Horror Punk revelations of all times !!! Their debut album "It's Monster Rock", that came out in 2001, was already a true masterpiece. But this time, with "Werewolf Order", here we are in front of a true chef-d'oeuvre. Not only the production in itself is excellent (thanks to FiendForce rds for that !), but also all the elements we could dream of are there : a HUGE, powerful sound, killer guitar riffs, supersonic energy, raging but melodic vocals, deep & eerie atmospheres, some ghostly synths parts here and there, very catchy songs, and of course recurrent Horror themes brought up by the lyrics. The title song itself, "Werewolf Order", is a true lycanthropic anthem, with dreadful and heavy rythms and predatory guitar explosions that tear your brain apart. "Dracula" is an apocalyptic new version of "Dracula built my hot rod", which was featured on the debut album. "It's Halloween", with its Batcave/Death Rock tones hold by supernatural keyboard waves, bewitchs the listener. "Wakin' the Dead" is a furious and devastating discharge of macabre energy. And all the rest is in keeping, each of the tracks being an absolute hit. This record is so good that it would be really too hard to select only a few tracks as samples. Making such a choice between so many sonic jewels would just be an impossible task, as far as I'm concerned. I just can't stop playing it again and again. Moreover, the band's imagery, mixing Horror/gothic/punk elements and gas masks with germanic symbols (Iron Crosses a-go-go, german helmets, and so on) is absolutely fantastic !!! What more could we expect ? SHADOW REICHENSTEIN are down right one of the greatest Horror Punk bands ever, as simple as that. So, join the Werewolf Order NOW !!! Hanns Wehrwolf

Malheureusement, seulement 2 titres pour ce CD single des vétérans punk rockers britanniques. Mais putain...qu'est-ce que c'est BON !!! "Persecute me" est une chanson furieuse, puissante, rapide et terriblement efficace, certainement le plus grand hit du groupe à ce jour. Sur ce disque, les CHARRED HEARTS se montrent beaucoup plus énergiques et agressifs que sur leur album de 2005, et je ne m'en plaindrai pas. Quant à "Throwaway Society", le second titre, il est lui aussi vraiment très bon, même s'il peut difficilement égaler un joyau tel que "Persecute Me". Il est très regrettable que ce soit si court, on en redemande ! J'espère que le groupe enregistrera un jour un album longue durée entièrement dans cette veine, sans oublier d'y inclure cette petite merveille : elle est incontournable, indispensable, déjà un classique pour moi. Sans aucun doute, un tel album constituerait un vrai chef d'oeuvre. Et j'attends impatiemment que leurs prochaines réalisations voient le jour, car cette évolution musicale est vraiment très prometteuse. Les CHARRED HEARTS joueront le vendredi 23 septembre 2011 au Mondo Bizarro, à Rennes, avec leurs amis de BLITZKRIEG, légendaire groupe punk anglais du début des 80's. Le lendemain, samedi 24 septembre 2011, les deux groupes donneront un second concert exclusif en France, probablement à Paris ou dans la banlieue parisienne (à confirmer bientôt). Ne les ratez pas, vous ne serez pas déçus !

Unfortunately, 2 tracks only for this CD single from the british Punk Rock veterans. But...how GOOD they are !!! "Persecute Me" is a furious, fast, powerful and terribly effective song, certainly the band's biggest hit so far. On this record, the CHARRED HEARTS show themselves much more energetic and aggressive than they did on their 2005 album, and I won't complain about that. As for "Throwaway Society", the 2nd track, it is also very good truly, although it can hardly equal a jewel such as "Persecute Me". It is really unfortunate that it's so short, 'cos we're clamouring for more ! I hope that one of these days the band will record a full length album that will be entirely in this vein, without forgetting to include this small wonder on it : it's an absolute must, indispensable, already a classic for me. Without any doubt, such an album would be a true masterpiece. And I'm waiting impatiently for their next releases to see the light, because this musical evolution is really very promising. The CHARRED HEARTS will play on friday 23 september 2011 at the "Mondo Bizarro" in Rennes, Brittany, France, with their friends from BLITZKRIEG, legendary english punk band from the early 80's. The day after, saturday 24 september 2011, the two bands will play another exclusive gig together in France, probably in Paris or somewhere in the parisian suburb (to be confirmed soon). Don't miss them, you won't be disappointed !

Les CHARRED HEARTS sont un groupe Punk Rock né en 1981, qui est assez réputé au Royaume Uni, mais, étrangement, ils sont presque totalement inconnus en France. Sur cet album, leur première réalisation depuis leur reformation de l'an 2000, le groupe présente 11 titres de R'n'R mélodique, mid-tempo mais musclé, avec des vocaux clairs. Dans l'ensemble, c'est plutôt propre et relativement sage, même si le son est assez puissant, et même si certains morceaux sont un peu plus rapides que les autres, comme "Amnesia", "Fucked", "Nowhere Town", ou encore "Louisiana Calling" par exemple. L'écoute de cet album n'est pas déplaisante du tout, mais personnellement, je préfère de loin leur excellent single "Persecute Me" de 2009, qui est beaucoup plus nerveux et entraînant, à mon humble avis.

The CHARRED HEARTS are a classic Punk Rock band, born in 1981. They're quite famous in the UK but, strangely, they're almost totally unknown in France. On this album, their first release since their 2000 reformation, they present 11 tracks of mid-tempo but powerful melodic R'n'R, with clear vocals. On the whole, that's rather clean and relatively quiet, and they sound like they sobered down, although their sound is quite powerful, and event though some of the songs are a bit faster than the others, like "Amnesia", "Fucked", "Nowhere Town", or "Louisiana Calling" for instance. Listening to this album is not unpleasant at all, but personally, I prefer by far their excellent "Persecute Me" single from 2009, which is much more nervous and catchy, IMHO.

Je n'avais jamais entendu parler de ce groupe britannique auparavant, mais je dois dire qu'il s'agit apparemment d'un combo récent : en effet, ce disque n'est que leur 2ème album. Et ma foi, c'est une très bonne découverte ! CONTROL pratique un Streetpunk très efficace, sur la base d'un Punk Rock puissant, à la fois énergique et mélodique, avec un gros son et une production excellente. C'est vraiment le genre de musique qui est susceptible de plaire tout autant aux fans de Punk Rock classique qu'aux fans de Streetpunk/OI!, sans le moindre doute. D'ailleurs, ils disent jouer du "Hooligan Rock'n'Roll", et il y a même un morceau qui a pour thème le trip skin, avec un titre plus qu'explicite : "He's a Skinhead". Ceci dit, j'aime beaucoup le titre de l'album, il parle de lui-même... ("Le Punk Rock a ruiné ma vie...Mais je ne changerais rien pour tout l'or du monde", en gros). J'aurais pu moi-même être l'auteur de cette phrase, c'est sûr ! ^^ Les paroles, quant à elles, sont assez terre à terre et très "working class", mais plutôt bien écrites. Elles sont imprégnées de révolte sociale, et abordent des thèmes tels que l'aliénation par le travail, l'armée et la guerre, la violence du monde moderne etc. D'ailleurs, le livret comprend non seulement tous les textes, mais aussi 4 pages sur lesquelles le sens de chaque chanson est expliqué. Bonne initiative. Bref, je vous recommande fortement cet album. Merci à Step 1 Music pour cette remarquable réalisation, je ne suis pas déçu.

I had never heard of this british band before, but I must say that it is apparently a rather recent one : indeed, this record is only their 2nd album. Well, this is a very good discovery ! CONTROL plays a very effective Streetpunk style, on the basis of a powerful, both energetic and melodic Punk Rock, with a big sound and an excellent production. That is actually the kind of music which might appeal to f classic Punk Rock fans, as well as to Streetpunk/OI! fans, without any doubt. Besides, they say they play "Hooligan Rock'n'Roll", and there's even a song that deals with the Skinhead, with a more than explicit title : "He's a Skinhead"... That said, I really enjoy the album title, it speaks for itself : "Punk Rock ruined my life...but I wouldn't change a thing". I could have said it myself, sure ! ^^  As for the lyrics, they're quite down to earth, and  very "working class"-like, but they're rather well written. They're filled with social revolt, and deal with issues such as alienation by work, war and the army, violence in the modern world and so on. Besides, the booklet features not only all of these lyrics, but also 4 pages that explain each song. Good initiative. In short, I strongly recommend this album to you. Thanks to Step 1 Music for this remarkable release, I'm not disappointed.

En règle générale, le "Skinhead way of life" n'est pas du tout ma tasse de thé. La mentalité, l'attitude, la philosophie, l'esthétique et la culture skinheads me sont totalement étrangers. D'ailleurs, contrairement à certains, moi je ne prône pas l'unité entre punks et skins, car je me sens si différent et si éloigné des skinheads que je n'y crois pas une seule seconde...  Cependant, je dois admettre que la musique OI! est un pont entre ces deux mondes, et qu'elle peut quelquefois nous rapprocher. Il y a des groupes de OI! qui sont punks (aujourd'hui, on appelle ça le "Streetpunk"), il y a des groupes de OI! qui comprennent à la fois des membres punks et des membres skins, et il y a la OI! qui est pleinement skinhead, même si ses racines musicales viennent du Punk Rock. BOOZE & GLORY appartient à cette dernière catégorie : c'est véritablement un groupe OI! skinhead. "Trouble free" est le second album de cette formation londonienne, et il nous délivre 12 morceaux de OI! mélodique avec une forte touche Punk Rock, rapide, puissante, et pleine de choeurs entraînants, complétés sur cette version CD par 4 titres bonus, dont 2 reprises du groupe polonais HORRORSHOW, donc 16 morceaux en tout. Très efficace dans ce style, et je ne suis pas vraiment surpris d'apprendre que BOOZE & GLORY est actuellement un nom de plus en plus célèbre et reconnu au sein de cette scène. De plus, la production est de très bonne qualité, comme d'habitude avec Step 1 Music, avec un livret de 12 pages contenant les paroles et des photos. Recommendé pour tous celles et ceux qui sont dans le trip skin/"working class" et tout le toutim.

In general, the "Skinhead way of life" isn't my cup of tea at all. Skinhead mentality, attitude, philosophy, aesthetic and culture are totally unknown to me. Besides, contrary to some people, I don't advocate unity between skins and punks, 'cos I feel so different and grown away from skinheads that I don't believe in it a single second... Nevertheless, I must admit OI! music is a bridge between those two worlds, and that sometimes it can bring us together. There are some punk OI! bands (nowadays we call this "Streetpunk"), there are some OI! bands that feature both some punk and some skinhead members, and there is also the purely skinhead OI! music, although its roots come from Punk Rock. BOOZE & GLORY belong to this third category : they are actually a skinhead OI! band. "Trouble free" is the 2nd album from these Londoners, and it offers us 12 songs of fast, powerful and melodic OI! with a strong Punk rock touch, full of singalong choirs, completed on this CD version by 4 bonus tracks, including two covers from polish band HORRORSHOW, so 16 tracks in total. Very effective in this style, and I'm not so surprised to learn that BOOZE & GLORY is is more and more a famous and regognized name within this scene. Moreover, the production is of an high quality, as usual with Step & Music, and the record comes with a 12 page booklet featuring the lyrics and some pictures. Recommended to all those who are into the skinhead/"working class" stuff and so on.
