V/A "This is HORRORPUNK" Vol. 2 ...The Terror continues Compilation internationale CD FiendForce Rds 2005 *****
Second volume pour cette désormais fameuse série de compilations réalisées par FiendForce Rds, et une fois de plus c'est une vraie réussite ! Il est tout simplement aussi bon que le premier, pour ceux qui connaissent. Comme le précédent, ce nouvel opus comprend à la fois des groupes Horror Punk proprement dits et des groupes Psychobilly. Il est vrai que la limite entre les deux styles est plutôt dure à définir parfois, certains groupes Horror Punk ayant une touche Psycho plus ou moins fortement prononcée (lorsqu'il ne s'agit pas carrément d'anciens groupes Psychobilly ayant tourné Horror Punk), tandis que certains groupes Psychos ont eux-mêmes de fortes tendances Horror Punk... Donc... Bien sûr, des noms déjà bien connus et bien établis sont représentés ici, comme par exemple CALABRESE, NIM VIND, FRANKENSTEIN, PENIS FLYTRAP, THE VLADIMIRS, DINAH CANCER & THE GRAVEROBBERS, CANCERSLUG, SHADOW REICHENSTEIN, THE FORBIDDEN DIMENSION, THE ROSEDALES etc, tandis que d'autres groupes moins connus mais déjà très prometteurs sont aussi présents, tels que PLAN 9, AMERICAN WEREWOLVES, THE YOUNG WEREWOLVES, GHOUL SQUAD, ou encore les Français HELLBATS, entre autres. THE DEEP EYNDE, plutôt connu jusqu'à présent comme une formation Gothic/Death Rock, est même là, et l'orientation Horror Punk / Gothic-Punk de leur morceau est d'ailleurs assez remarquable. Cependant, remarquons un petit détail tout aussi bizarre que surprenant : les 69 EYES, de Finlande, sont même intégrés sur cette compil à titre de "special guests" !... Pourtant, je me demande bien quel rapport ils peuvent avoir avec l' Horror Punk... Ceci dit, leur morceau "From Dusk till Dawn" n'est pas mal du tout. Habituellement, je suis très loin d'être un fan de 69 EYES (le soi-disant "Goth" new school et mainstream n'étant pas ma tasse de thé), mais pour une fois je dois admettre que j'aime bien cette chanson, et donc ce n'est pas un problème finalement. En conclusion, disons simplement que c'est une fois encore une excellente compilation dans son ensemble. Et un sampler très intéressant pour quiconque a suffisamment de curiosité pour découvrir de nouveaux groupes issus de divers pays. Achetez-en un exemplaire, ça vaut le coup. It is just as good as the first one, for those who know it. Like the previous one, this new opus features both Horror Punk bands in the strict sense of the word, and Psychobilly bands. It is true that the limit between the two styles is rather hard to define sometimes, some Horror Punk bands having more or less strong Psychobilly touches (when they're not downright former Psychobilly bands who turned Horror Punk) , while some Psychobilly bands have strong Horror Punk tendencies themselves... So... Of course, some already well-known and well-established names are represented here, like for instance CALABRESE, NIM VIND, FRANKENSTEIN, PENIS FLYTRAP, THE VLADIMIRS, DINAH CANCER & THE GRAVEROBBERS, CANCERSLUG, SHADOW REICHENSTEIN, THE FORBIDDEN DIMENSION, THE ROSEDALES and so on, but lots of less-known but yet very promising bands are also featured, such as PLAN 9, AMERICAN WEREWOLVES, THE YOUNG WEREWOLVES, GHOUL SQUAD, or the french HELLBATS, amongst others. THE DEEP EYNDE, rather known as a Gothic/Death Rock act so far, are even here, and the Horror Punk / Gothic-Punk orientation of their song is quite remarkable. Nevertheless, let's notice a "weird" and amazing detail : the 69 EYES, from Finland, are even included as "special guests" !... However, I wonder what they have to do with Horror Punk... That said, their track "From Dusk till Dawn" is not bad at all. Usually I'm very far from being a 69 EYES fan (mainstream and new-school so-called "Goth" is not my cup of tea), but for once I must admit I like this song, so it doesn't matter finally. As a conclusion, let's just say this is once again an excellent compilation in its whole. And a very interesting sampler for anyone that is curious enough to discover new bands from various countries. Buy a copy, it's really worth getting it. Hans Wehrwolf
