Les LAST ORDERS sont assez "exotiques", puisqu'il nous viennent des somptueuses contrées de la Nouvelle Zélande, mais il ne s'agit pas pour autant d'une jeune formation : le groupe, en effet, était déjà actif dès le milieu des années 80. Sur les neuf titres véritablement hymniques que comporte ce mini album, sept sont en fait des compositions datant de 1987 mais réenregistrées en 2002, et deux sont véritablement de nouveaux morceaux créés la même année. Même s'il s'agit d'une autoproduction, la qualité sonore est excellente, et l'ensemble, tout en demeurant très mélodique, s'inscrit dans une lignée 100% Punk Rock "old school" digne des plus grands noms britanniques de cette scène. C'est à la fois puissant, rapide, et entraînant, porté par un son de guitare particulièrement énergique et incisif, situant les LAST ORDERS quelque part entre ABRASIVE WHEELS, BLITZ, THE DAMNED, STIFF LITTLE FINGERS, THE PARTISANS, et GBH, avec en prime quelques touches rageuses à la DISCHARGE. Bref, je leur souhaite vraiment d'obtenir toute l'attention et toute la reconnaissance qu'ils méritent, notamment en Europe où ils sont encore totalement inconnus... Sans aucun doute l'un des meilleurs groupes punks néo-zélandais de tous les temps, à découvrir, à soutenir, et à encourager de toute urgence !!! Hans Wehrwolf
ENGLISH VERSION : The LAST ORDERS are a bit "exotic", since they come from the sumptuous lands of New Zealand, but they're not a young band for all that : indeed, they were already active from the mid 80's. Out of the nine truly anthemic tracks who are featured on this mini album, seven of them are in fact old compositions from 1987 but re-recorded in 2002, and the two others are truly new songs written during the same year. Although it's a self-release, the sound quality is excellent, and the whole, while remaining very melodic, fits into a 100% "old school" Punk Rock vein , worthy of the greatest british names from this scene. It's both powerful, fast, and lively, sustained by a particularly energic and incisive guitar sound, situating the LAST ORDERS somewhere between the ABRASIVE WHEELS, BLITZ, THE DAMNED, STIFF LITTLE FINGERS, THE PARTISANS, and GBH, with also, for good measure, a few raging touches a la DISCHARGE. In brief, I really wish them to obtain all the attention and all the recognition they deserve, especially in Europe where they're still totally unknown. Without any doubt one of the best NZ Punk bands ever. To be discovered, to support, and to encourage as a matter of great urgency !!! Hans Wehrwolf
