CALABRESE "13 Hallowe'ens" CD Spookshow Records 2004 ******
Après le plus que remarquable mini-album "Midnight Spookshow" sorti en 2003, voici le premier CD longue durée de ce qui est véritablement l'un des meilleurs groupes Horror Punk/Rock au monde. Et le moins que l'on puisse dire c'est que, loin d'être décevant, ce disque comble brillamment toutes nos espérances !!! Pour notre plus grande satisfaction, "13 Hallowe'ens" demeure fidèle aux sonorités si typiques qui se sont désormais imposées comme la marque de fabrique de CALABRESE : des mélodies énergiques et accrocheuses, renforcées par des choeurs puissants et entraînants, le tout agrémenté d'une touche très particulière combinant des atmosphères à la fois R'n'R et assombries. De surcroit, la production et la qualité sonore sont d'un excellent niveau. Les nouveaux morceaux tels que "Zombie I", "Resurrection", "One of us", "Phantasmagoria" ou "Eyes down" (entre autres) sont vraiment très efficaces, tandis que l'album comprend également 4 versions ré-enregistrées de titres qui apparaissaient déjà sur le mini album à présent épuisé : "Midnight Spookshow", "Shrunken Head Kids", "Blood in my Eyes" et "Crizila". Inutile de le rappeler, ces quatre morceaux qui tuent sont maintenant des classiques incontournables au sein du répertoire du groupe ! Cependant, ces nouvelles versions sonnent peut-être de manière un peu moins "rude" que les premières. Mon seul regret, c'est qu'à mon humble avis, cet album aurait dû inclure aussi de nouvelles versions des 2 autres morceaux du mini album précédent... Mais peut-être ces nouvelles versions apparaîtront-elles sur une prochaine réalisation, qui sait ? De toute façon, ne soyont pas trop exigeants, cet album étant un petit bijou absolument essentiel dans son ensemble. Donc dépêchez-vous, procurez-vous en un exemplaire si ce n'est déjà fait ! N' hésitez pas, rejoignez dès à présent le Young American Mystic Cult of Horror ! Vivement recommandé, une fois de plus merci beaucoup aux frères CALABRESE, ils ont décidément du génie !!! ENGLISH VERSION : After the more than remarkable debut mini album "Midnight Spookshow" from 2003, here is the first full-length CD by what is definately one of the best Horror Punk/Rock bands in the world. And the least we can say is that , far from being disappointing, it brilliantly fits all our expectations !!! For our greatest satisfaction, "13 Hallowe'ens" remains faithful to the so typical sound that is now established as CALABRESE's mark : energetic and catchy melodies strengthened by lively and powerful choruses, with a very particular touch that combine both R'n'R and darkened atmospheres. Moreover, the production and the sound quality are henceforth of an excellent level. The new songs such as "Zombie I", "Resurrection", "One of us", "Phantasmagoria" or "Eyes down" (amongst others) are really very effective, while the album also features 4 re-recorded versions of some songs that already appeared on the now deleted mini album : "Midnight Spookshow", "Shrunken Head Kids", "Blood in my Eyes" and "Crizila". Needless to remind it, those four killer tracks are now essential classics in the band's repertoire ! Nevertheless those new versions sound a little bit less "harsh" than the first ones, maybe. My only regret is that, in my humble opinion, this album should have featured new versions of the 2 other songs from the previous mini album as well... But perhaps will such new versions finally appear on a next release, who knows ? Anyway, let's not be too demanding, this album being an essential little jewel in its whole. So hurry up, get a copy of it if that's not already done ! Don't hesitate, join the Young American Mystic Cult of Horror NOW !
